Trip fundraising

How Do You Raise Money for a Mission Trip?

You raise money for a mission trip by explaining its purpose to people who know you, inviting them to pray and give, making giving simple, and thanking and updating them afterward. Start early, ask personally, and treat supporters as partners in the trip, not just donors.

Start with the trip's purpose

Explain the trip's ministry purpose to the people who know you: why you are going and who you will serve alongside.

Invite people to pray and give

Share it through personal conversations and support letters or emails, inviting people to partner with you through prayer and giving.

Make giving clear and easy

Give clear instructions for how to give, and follow up personally with the people you have asked.

Thank supporters and report back

Thank your supporters, keep them informed during the trip and report back afterward on what God did.

Questions about trip fundraising

How much should I raise?

Your trip leader or sending agency sets the trip budget, so start there. Then share that goal with your supporters, explain what it covers in plain words, and keep them updated as you get closer to it.

Start with a Vision Meeting

Every church starts with a free conversation. We'll recommend the level that fits, or none at all.
