To become a missionary, start with prayer and your local church: talk with your pastor and elders about this desire, your gifts and your readiness, serve where you are, then find a sending agency together. From there you work through the agency's assessment, training, placement and support process, with your church sending and caring for you the whole way.

Start with your local church because God sends missionaries through churches: your church can confirm your calling, help prepare you, pray for you and care for you once you go.
Talk with your pastor early. If your church has never sent anyone, Psalm 67 can help it learn how.
What is a sending church? →The path has eight steps, and Psalm 67 walks with you through the four in the middle.
1

You sense God may be calling you to the nations, or you want to understand His heart for them.
2
We walk with you
Explore study
A small-group study on God's global purposes, often with friends from your church.
3
We walk with you
Perspectives course
A deeper class on the biblical, historical, cultural and strategic sides of world mission.

We walk with you
Missions Foundations
Psalm 67's own six-lesson course on God's heart for the nations, the unreached and the sending church.
5
We walk with you
Vision trip or field exposure
Time on the field with trusted partners, to see the work and test your calling.
What is a vision trip? ↓6
Pre-field training
Focused preparation for long-term service, for example through Radius International.
7
A sending agency
An organization that helps send, support and care for you on the field.
8
The field
Serving long-term, sent and cared for by your local church.
Explore, Perspectives and Radius International are run by other organizations; we help you find and complete them.
Every person and every church is different, so we use the same three movements we use with churches: Evaluate, Equip and Engage.
1
Evaluate
We help you and your church see where you are: your walk with Christ, your gifts and experience, and what is still missing.
2
Equip
We help fill those gaps through your church's own guidelines, or help your church set them up. That can include studies like Explore and Perspectives, serving locally, and a short-term trip or local outreach along the way.
3
Engage
When you and your church are ready, we help you connect with a sending agency and take the next step toward the field.
Five honest questions help you see where you are before you take the next step.
Why the nations?
What draws me there, and who have I talked with about it?
My church
Does my church know, and what do my pastors see in me?
Right now
Am I already sharing my faith and discipling others where I live?
Where
Which people or places has God put on my heart, and why?
Next
What training or experience would help me most right now?
Does Psalm 67 Collective send missionaries?
Not yet. We hope to one day send people to work alongside global churches. For now, we help churches raise up, prepare and send their own people through trusted agencies.
What qualifications do you need to be a missionary?
It depends on your church, agency and role, but agencies look for faith in Christ, Christian character, emotional maturity, teachability and your church's endorsement. Some roles need professional credentials. You do not automatically need a seminary degree.
Do you get paid to be a missionary?
Most missionaries receive regular support for living and ministry needs, but how it works varies. Often churches and individuals give through the agency, which manages the support; some agencies fund roles from pooled church giving, and others support themselves through work.
What training is required to be a missionary?
Expect training in the Bible and theology, sharing the gospel and discipling others, cross-cultural communication, language learning and the skills your role needs. Agencies add support raising, personal security and team preparation, fitted to you and your assignment.
What is a vision trip?
A vision trip is a short visit to meet missionaries, see ministry and daily life up close, and ask whether a place or role fits you. Its purpose is learning and discerning your next step, not finishing a project.
What if my church has never sent anyone?
That is common. Psalm 67 Collective helps churches learn to send and care for missionaries. Invite your pastor to a Vision Meeting.
How long does it take to become a missionary?
At least a year, and often two to three. It depends on your spiritual maturity, your experience and your church's process: a seasoned pastor's path looks very different from that of a recent graduate with little ministry experience.
